Portuguese journalists on a tour of Belgrade and Novi Sad

15 October 2023

Air Serbia, in cooperation with the Embassy of Portugal in Belgrade and the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Lisbon, is organizing the visit of eight influential Portuguese journalists, with the aim of presenting the tourism potential of Serbia to the residents of the westernmost European country. In April this year, the Serbian national airline introduced flights to Lisbon, and in November it will introduce flights to Porto, the second largest city in Portugal, for which airline tickets are already available for purchase. The guests from Portugal will stay in the Republic of Serbia until Tuesday, 17 October, with the support provided to Air Serbia by the Belgrade Courtyard by Marriott Hotel. In addition, the Tourist Organization of Serbia provided a sightseeing tour of Novi Sad, and the Tourist Organization of Belgrade provided guided tours through the capital of Serbia.

"In Serbia, there has been great interest in our flights between Belgrade and Lisbon for months, and their introduction on 15 April proved to be an excellent move by the Serbian national airline," said Boško Rupić, GM commercial and strategy at Air Serbia, adding that "now the launch of flights to Porto is getting closer, so Air Serbia, by organizing this press familiarization trip and other promotional activities, wants to help potential visitors from Portugal get to know the beauties of Serbia, and get them interested in visiting it, because those two tourist markets are very complementary."

"Establishing routes between Serbia and Portugal provided good foundations for the further development of cooperation between our two countries, primarily in the field of tourism and travel. We provided the journalists with round-trip air tickets between Lisbon and Belgrade and accommodation in the heart of Belgrade, at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel. Cooperation with the Marriott group from the German market, where it existed before, has now expanded to Spain and Portugal markets because the foreign partner sees the success of our company on the Iberian Peninsula," said Maja Radivojević, representative for the Portuguese market at Air Serbia.

From 10 November 2023, Air Serbia will establish direct flights between Belgrade and Porto. The Serbian national airline will operate flights between those two cities twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays, with Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft.
