Air Serbia posts best result since start of year

04 April 2023

Air Serbia carried 235,000 passengers in March, which is a 91.2% increase y-o-y and 68.3% increase compared to 2019. From its hub at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, as well as the airports in Niš and Kraljevo, Air Serbia operated 2,795 flights in March, for a 69.5% increase y-o-y, and a 43% jump compared to the record-breaking pre-pandemic 2019. This is the best March result since the company has been operating under the name Air Serbia, from 2013 until today.

“The recently concluded winter season was very successful for us. We achieved exceptional results in January and February, both when it comes to the number of passengers carried and to the number of flights operated. This trend continued in March, which is the ninth consecutive record-breaking month for our company. We introduced the summer flight schedule and prepared a series of new destinations that we did not fly to in 2022. A large number of scheduled destinations will feature boosted weekly frequencies, and we will launch seasonal flights as well. The most active part of the year is ahead of us, and we believe that the results in the coming months will be even better,” said Boško Rupić, General Manager Commercial and Strategy at Air Serbia.

In March, the most popular Air Serbia destinations in West Europe were Zurich, Paris, Vienna, and Berlin. When it comes to the wider region, Podgorica and Tivat, as well as Athens and Istanbul saw the highest demand. Direct flights to Budapest were launched last month.

During the summer season, Air Serbia will operate the most flights to Tivat, Podgorica, Zurich and Istanbul. The national airline will fly twice a day to Athens, Larnaca, Ljubljana, Paris, Skopje, Tirana and Zagreb, while North America service will be boosted with the introduction of daily flights to New York, and direct flights to Chicago starting from 17 May. Air Serbia will fly four times a week, to new destinations in its network, such as Ankara, Krakow, Ohrid, Varna, Rhodes and Tel Aviv, and three times a week to Cairo, Hamburg, Goteborg, Cologne and Chania.
