10 August 2023
When it comes to the performance of Air Serbia in the first six months of 2023, record results were achieved according to several parameters.
In the first two quarters of the current year alone, we transported around 1.7 million passengers, which is 87 percent more than last year, i.e. 59 percent more compared to the record pre-pandemic year 2019. In relation to the total number of passengers who traveled through Belgrade airport, the share of passengers who flew with our airline is about 50 percent, or one half. In June alone, the market share of Air Serbia passengers at Belgrade airport was 55 percent.
In this period, Air Serbia operated a total of 19,181 flights, which is 63 percent more compared to the same period last year, i.e. 38 percent more than in the first six months of 2019.
Good business operation produced record financial results. According to preliminary financial reports, Air Serbia recorded a profit of 22.4 million euros in the first half of the year, practically the level of profit for the entire year 2022.
In view of the good financial result, our company, in compliance with domestic laws and the legislative framework of the European Union, decided to pay 20 million euros to the Republic of Serbia already this year, for the funds received through the recapitalization process. Air Serbia thanks the Government of the Republic of Serbia for its support and emphasizes that it will continue to fulfill its obligations under the Recapitalization Agreement.
The Republic of Serbia carried out the recapitalization of the Serbian national airline in accordance with European and domestic regulations in December 2020 and September 2022, as a measure to eliminate business disruptions caused by the Covid 19 pandemic during 2020 and 2021.
