Air Serbia commenced flights to Salzburg
Today, on 7 June, Air Serbia commenced direct flights between Belgrade and Salzburg in Austria for the first time, with flight JU620 at 07:00. The Serbian national airline will fly to its second destination in the popular Alpine country, after Vienna, three times a week during the summer season – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, as well as twice a week in the winter season.
The first flight was greeted with a traditional water salute at the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Airport, located three kilometers southwest of the center of Salzburg and the second largest in Austria. Representatives of Air Serbia, the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Salzburg and the airport attended the official ceremony organized on that occasion.
“We are very happy that by introducing this service, we are contributing to the strengthening of the air connection between Serbia and Austria, an extremely important market for our country due to its large Serbian diaspora. We are sure that Salzburg, as an important tourist destination due to its proximity of the Alps and ski resorts, baroque architecture and numerous sights it offers, will be an attractive option for planning a vacation to our passengers”, said Bojan Aranđelović, Head of Network Planning & Scheduling at Air Serbia.
Salzburg, the fourth largest city in Austria, is known as the birthplace of the famous Mozart and as the administrative, economic and cultural center of the province of the same name. A one of the most beautiful baroque cities, it is often called the ‘Gateway to the Alps’. The historical core of the city, a perfect combination of art and architecture, is on the UNESCO heritage list.
By commencing flights to Salzburg, via Belgrade, Air Serbia will provide seamless connections between the popular Austrian city and other destinations in its network, such as Athens, Bucharest, Dubrovnik, Istanbul, Larnaca, Podgorica, Pula, Sarajevo, Skopje, Sofia, Split, Tirana and Tivat.
