Air Serbia to increase traffic toward the Russian Federation

Due to great interest among passengers from the region and the Russian Federation, in the upcoming period, Air Serbia is planning to operate flights to as many as four destinations in the Russian Federation. The Serbian national airline would thus become the main entry point for Russian passengers, for travelling to our region and beyond.

During May, Air Serbia will increase the frequency of flights to Moscow, and operate seven flights weekly on this route, and in June, it will recommence flights to two destinations which have been suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic – to Krasnodar on 4 June and to Saint Petersburg on 8 June. On 4 June, the national airline will also commence flights to an entirely new destination in its network – Rostov-on-Don, with two scheduled flights a week. The tickets for all aforementioned flights are already available for purchase.

"We continue to react quickly to all changes in the travel restrictions in order to make use of every opportunity that arises. The Russian Federation represents a strategically extremely important market for us, and we are very glad that we will soon be able to operate flights to as many as four destinations in this great country. We are especially proud of the fact that, after Oslo and Geneva, we will be launching flights to Rostov-on-Don, as the third completely new destination in our network since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic, and the second one this year," said Jiri Marek, General Manager, Commercial and Strategy, Air Serbia.

The Serbian national airline currently operates flights to Moscow six times a week, and plans to operate seven weekly flights on this route starting on 13 May. This way, Air Serbia will provide the simplest connection from the Russian capital to the popular Montenegrin coast, as well as a strong connection to Moscow and vice-versa for passengers from the region.

Rostov-on-Don represents a political, cultural and economic centre and a very important hub in southern Russia. The route to the biggest city in the south of the Russian Federation was supposed to be established in June 2020, but the plans were delayed due to the situation caused by the global coronavirus pandemic. The introduction of direct flights will provide the passengers with good connections to a number of cities in the Air Serbia network – Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul, Larnaca, London, Ljubljana, Tivat, Paris, Podgorica, Prague, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Zurich. A direct flight from Belgrade to Rostov-on-Don lasts two hours and 50 minutes on average.

Krasnodar is located in south Russia and it is known as the industrial, economic and cultural centre of this region. Air Serbia established a direct air link to the "southern capital of Russia" for the first time in June 2019, and now it will be the first foreign airline to re-establish flights to this Russian city. A direct flight from Belgrade to Krasnodar lasts two hours and 30 minutes on average.

Saint Petersburg, the city with the second highest population in Russia, represents a historic, cultural and bohemian centre. The Serbian national airline first commenced the flights to the city known for its moving bridges and "white nights" back in June 2016. A direct flight from Belgrade to Saint Petersburg lasts two hours and 45 minutes on average.
