Five years of Air Serbia
Air Serbia is celebrating five years of successful operation and five years since the first commercial flight with constant growth and service improvements in all segments. Since 26 October 2013, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia carried 12 million guests on more than 150 thousand flights to over 40 destinations around the world.
"We are proud to celebrate this important anniversary as the absolute leader in the region. We will continue forward with even more ambitious goals. Grateful for the trust our guests have shown us over the years, we will not only continue to show that we are deserving that trust, but we will also aspire to go above and beyond the expectations and standards," said Air Serbia CEO Duncan Naysmith.
The achieved success of the Serbian airline is also evidenced by the renowned civil aviation ratings website AirlineRatings.com which has Air Serbia as the highest rated airline in southeast Europe in 2018, with a maximum of seven stars in the category of safety and five stars for the complete product and service.
The launch of the new Serbian national airline started with the signing of codeshare agreements between JAT Airways and Etihad Airways on 15 April 2013, after which the company from the United Arab Emirates signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement with the Government of Serbia on 1 August of the same year. The first aircraft with Air Serbia livery – an A319, named Novak Đoković, departed from Belgrade to Abu Dhabi on 26 October 2013, one day after the company was officially presented to the public.
