Air Serbia Cargo posts record-breaking month in October
Air Serbia Cargo has recorded its biggest ever monthly uplift by carrying 575 tonnes of cargo during October, exceeding last year’s October total of 394 tonnes by 46 per cent.
The airline transported 174 tonnes of mail during the month, representing an increase of 57 per cent, which was driven by high volumes of post sent to the US from across Southeast Europe.
General freight also registered a strong upwards trend, with 401 tonnes carried this October compared to 283 tonnes last year.
Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: “Our cargo operation has posted a record-breaking month for October and is on track to deliver impressive results for the year of 2016.
“With a network of 44 destinations and extensive trucking and logistics services, we play a leading role in facilitating trade both in the region and beyond, to North America.
“Our New York service has really taken off with shippers in Southeast Europe and we are confident it will continue to grow in popularity.”
Air Serbia currently operates a three-per-week service between Belgrade and New York on a wide-body Airbus A330 aircraft that offers 11 tonnes of belly-hold cargo capacity per flight.
Since June, the carrier has transported a wide variety of cargo to the US, from food products made in Serbia to mozzarella from Italy, garments and machine parts from Turkey and Romania, mail from Russia and Greece and safety glass from Croatia.
In addition to its non-stop flights to New York, Air Serbia provides road feeder services to 53 cities across the US and Canada, enabling clients to deliver cargo to the majority of key destinations in North America.
