Air Serbia carries half a million passengers since the beginning of the year
Today, 11 March, Air Serbia exceeded 500,000 carried passengers since the beginning of 2023, while in 2022 this result was accomplished only on 10 May, that is, it took two months longer. When it comes to the record-setting pre-pandemic year of 2019, the Serbian national airline reached the half a million mark on 20 April. The results accomplished so far show that this year, Air Serbia will reach the highest number of passengers carried in Q1 since 2013, the year of its rebranding.
“The demand for our flights is very good and constantly growing. We are at the cusp of the summer season, which is traditionally the most popular season for travelling, and during which we will be flying to more than 20 destinations we did not fly to last year. We believe that the months ahead will bring new records for Serbia’s national airline, and an even better flight experience for our passengers. With such a strong start to the year, we expect not only to exceed three million carried passengers this year for the first time, but also to possibly reach three and a half million,” said Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia.
For eight months in a row, from July 2022 to February 2023, Air Serbia posted a record number of passengers carried and flights operated. Good results were also recorded during the winter schedule when the number of passengers carried is traditionally lower. Precisely in this period, the national airline broke its record, having carried more than 200,000 passengers during both January and February. In the first month of 2023, Air Serbia operated 2,756 flights, while in February, the number was at 2,410.
