Air Serbia to start non-stop flights to Ohrid and strengthen regional network
- Belgrade-based airline to launch non-stop flights to Ohrid in June 2016
- Flight increases to Dubrovnik, Pula and Tivat
Air Serbia, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, will introduce three weekly flights to Ohrid and significantly increase weekly frequencies on its regional network in June 2016.
The non-stop service to Ohrid, a popular Macedonian city overlooking the 34km-long Lake Ohrid, will be operated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays serviced by an ATR turboprop aircraft with 66 seats.
Air Serbia will also upgrade its Dubrovnik service to daily and operate an additional fifth weekly service to Pula, providing summer holidaymakers with more choice when flying to these Croatian coastal towns.
In addition, the Belgrade-based airline will substantially increase flight options to the Montenegrin town of Tivat, which is famous for its sailing, by operating two more weekly services, up to a maximum of 30 return flights a week in the summer season.
This development will bring an additional 1,048 seats to and from Belgrade each week, stimulating growth in the tourism sector.
Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: “The non-stop Ohrid service is a fantastic development for our regional network that will provide leisure travellers with fast and convenient access to one of Macedonia’s most alluring summer destinations.“At the same time, we will deepen our regional network with increased weekly flights to three popular cities, enabling us to meet high seasonal travel demand and continue to build flexibility, choice and convenience into our regional travel offering. “Air Serbia is in a very exciting growth phase right now and we are working closely with our tourism and trade partners to ensure the new services really take off. “
This development was made possible by our recent aircraft lease deal with Adria Airways, which has enabled Air Serbia to reassign an ATR aircraft to tap into promising traffic flows in the region.” '
The airline plans to launch a number of services in June 2016, including New York, its first transatlantic service to the United States since 1992, and flights to Hamburg, Kiev and Ohrid.
