Air Serbia announces new route to Budapest
Air Serbia operated its inaugural flight from Belgrade to Budapest marking the start of daily non-stop service to the city. The flight was operated by Air Serbia's ATR 72 in new Air Serbia livery of red, blue and white.
The service celebrates the resumption of flights between these two cities in a period that spans 22 years. The route enjoys a long history. The first flight taking place in 1939 by Aeroput. JAT then reopened the route in 1967 as one of 25 European destinations, and serviced this line until the last flight in 1992.
The Budapest flights offer excellent connections through Air Serbia's Belgrade hub at Nikola Tesla Airport to numerous key destinations across Europe, including Athens, Thessaloniki, Tel Aviv, Larnaca, Sofia and Abu Dhabi and as well as regional destinations including Sarajevo, Skopje, Tivat and Podgorica.
Dane Kondić, Air Serbia Chief Executive Officer, said: "Serbia and Hungary have always had a good relationship and it is very pleasing that we are now able to offer a daily service connecting the two cities. Re-introduction of flights to Budapest will service both business and leisure travelers, with direct flights now allowing for considerable time saving in comparison to land transportation. The new service also provides two way connectivity over Belgrade between Hungary, mainland Europe and key global destinations."
There has been solid demand for the new Air Serbia Budapest flights, with a good mix of point-to-point bookings as well as through-traffic that will see people travelling beyond the Belgrade hub.
The summer flight schedule will include non-stop daily flights with the ATR72.
Air Serbia recently unveiled an ART 72 in the full Air Serbia livery of red, blue and white. Marking the first in a series of five ATRs that will be completely repainted and refurbished in the near future, the ATR 72 fits 66 passengers in total, with all seats recoated in leather.
The on-board service has also been refreshed with new and improved menu options coupled with a complimentary bar service.
