Air Serbia successfully completes move to Sabre technology at Belgrade Airport

Air Serbia's switch to its new SabreSonic Check-in system at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla International Airport has been successfully completed with no disruption to passengers during the migration period.

The first flight to use the new check-in system on Tuesday 25 February was Air Serbia's JU380 service from Belgrade to London Heathrow, and check-in operated normally.

Full systems migration was complete by close of business on Thursday 27 February, when the airline also returned to a regular two-hour check-in procedure for all flights.

Air Serbia offered hospitality at check-in to all guests during the three days of the changeover and handled more than 80 flights and almost 11,000 passengers.

Dane Kondić, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: "The transition to SabreSonic at Belgrade airport has been a great success, involving hundreds of Air Serbia staff and months of hard work. Right from the start our focus was on ensuring this technology upgrade had no impact on our guests' travel plans, and to have achieved this is testament to the excellent teamwork between Air Serbia, Sabre Airline Solutions, our partner Etihad Airways, and the staff at Belgrade airport. Today we have a check-in facility at the airport which is state-of-the-art and which will provide a better experience for everyone who travels with us."

The check-in technology upgrade operation at Belgrade airport involved Air Serbia staff from across the airline's operations, and was supported on-site by more than 40 Etihad Airways and Sabre experts who had flown in from around the world.

These professionals worked around the clock to ensure a smooth transition to the new SabreSonic check-in system in the run up, during, and post cutover period.

Mr Kondić concluded: "Now complete, this important systems upgrade will begin to enhance the Air Serbia passenger experience at Belgrade International Airport. It will streamline how we look after our guests and respond to their needs, deliver functionality for check-in which until now wasn't possible, and ultimately, provide a new and more efficient departure control system for our staff at our hub."
