Air Serbia launches summer internship program
Air Serbia, the national airline of the Republic of Serbia, has launched a summer internship program, offering young Serbians a fantastic opportunity to gain work experience in the aviation industry.
The program will provide young people and students with practical experience and a chance to receive valuable on-the-job training across various Air Serbia departments including Catering, which produces all the menus and inflight meals for the airline; Technical, which is responsible for maintaining aircraft; as well as Airport Operations at Nikola Tesla Airport.
Those who excel in their roles will be considered for employment at Air Serbia.
Dane Kondic, Chief Executive Officer of Air Serbia, said: “We are committed to supporting the development of the local workforce in Serbia and are happy to offer this exciting opportunity for young people to get their foot in the door of the aviation industry.
“This program is designed to equip our younger generations with important skills that are crucial in the travel business as well as provide practical work experience and a solid understanding of how airlines and airports function.
“The internship program will run over the summer months and is a great opportunity for young people who are interested in starting a career in the aviation industry to get a taste of various roles in the business.
“Last year we had a number of people who went on to join Air Serbia and the same employment opportunities are available this year.”
Jovana Ostojić, who interned with Air Serbia at Nikola Tesla Airport last year before joining the airline as a Premium Lounge agent, said: “My internship with Air Serbia was a big highlight of 2015 for me. I had always dreamed of working for an airline or at the airport and Air Serbia gave me the chance to make it come true.
“During my internship, I learned about how the air travel industry works, solved guest-related problems, and interacted with Air Serbia guests across the world, which provided me with the skills and knowledge to join Air Serbia.”
Tijana Kojić also completed an internship program with Air Serbia in 2015 and later joined the airline in a cabin crew role. Describing her experience, she said: “The internship program was a really great opportunity that opened the door for me to pursue a career in aviation.
“Working in the hustle-and-bustle of Nikola Tesla Airport was exciting, made me realize how much I enjoy interacting and helping guests, and inspired me to apply for the cabin crew role.”
