Air Serbia posts record results in January
Air Serbia posted record number of passengers carried in January, thus continuing the growth trend from the previous year. In the first month of 2020, Air Serbia carried 168,856 passengers from the Belgrade Airport, which is nearly up 36 thousand, i.e. 27 per cent more compared to the same period last year. These are Air Serbia’s best operational results for January since its launch in 2013. Simultaneously, load factor on Belgrade flights increased by 7 percentage points compared to January 2019. In addition to that, number of destinations from Serbian capital rose from 34 to 41, while sales of increasingly popular ancillaries increased for 44 per cent, year on year.
“We are pleased to have started a new year by setting new records and to have posted great results already in January which, when it comes to number of passengers, stands for a weaker month in air industry. Last year was Air Serbia’s most successful one so far by the number of passengers carried and new destinations and we are happy for providing firm grounds for further development in 2020”, says Jiri Marek, General Manager for Commercial and Strategy at Air Serbia.
By launching 23 new routes and introducing flights from two more airports in Serbia, the national airline recorded the strongest expansion in 2019 since it started operations as Air Serbia. The company carried a record-breaking number of 2.81 million passengers, posting good results during off-peak season period, when nearly 25 per cent more passengers were carried year-on-year. In late October last year, the national carrier welcomed its jubilant 15 millionth passenger in six years of operations.
