Air Serbia posts 28% increase in passengers carried in February
Air Serbia continues to record strong growth in the number of passengers carried in the second month of 2020 as well. In February, the airline carried 145,610 passengers from the Belgrade Airport, 32,000 more compared to the same month last year, which is a 28% increase year on year and which makes it the strongest February since the launch of Air Serbia. At the same time, load factor on flights from Belgrade increased by 8 percentage points compared to February 2019 and stands at 66%. The number of destinations Air Serbia flies to from the Serbian capital increased from 34 to 41, while sale of ancillaries increased by 38% year on year.
“We are happy that constant investments into improving our offer and services are providing results, which is evidenced by the data showing continuous growth of the number of passengers. Excellent operating results, continuing on success from 2019 and the first month of this year, show that we are well on the way of accomplishing the ambitious goals we have set for the upcoming period,” stated Jiri Marek, Air Serbia’s GM Commercial and Strategy.
Good results were achieved in spite of the coronavirus outbreak in northern Italy in the last week of February, which affected the results of majority of European airlines. On the other hand, somewhat lower demand for March and April has been noted, like in other airlines. Air Serbia will continue adjusting its capacities to demand and the newly arisen circumstances on the market, following the recommendations of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and national authorities, while the safety of passengers and crew members remains the main priority.
